New Work

Here are some examples of projects I have been working on over the past year or so. The first are photos included in my most recent book, A Walk in the Woods, documenting a lifetime of finding solace and inspiration in forests around the world. The second, A Slow Unmaking, represents a drift to the abstract. These are close-up photos of the steel used in making the monumental steel sculptures of the late Richard Serra. I found the patina of natural rust and corrosion, combined with scratches, welds, seams and the natural texture of the raw steel renders as intense abstract images. And the corrosion itself represents the gradual but inevitable "slow unmaking" of these massive and seemingly permanent structures.
