This collection is an exploration of surface qua surface, of the beauty and mystery of the outside, a celebration of the superficial. With both natural and manmade subjects, the photos may be seen as no more than depictions, beautiful in their own right. Yet even the simplest...a brick wall, a gnarled root...may have a story to tell: whiy is it the way it is, what was the maker's intent, is it meant to tell us something? Does it even matter?
Seen utterly out of context, I encourage the viewer to appreciate them as they are, to skim the surface and savor the beauty of supervidiality. But if that is not enough, I invite you to construct your own tale, creating through imagination the missing context, history, story.
