Shutter in Place

In this time of uncertainty and fear, when we are all asked to "shelter in place" and keep social distance from friends, neighbors and strangers alike, photographers, like all creative people, are challenged to discover inspiration much closer to home. Rather than travel to remote and exotic destinations for great images, we must explore the confines of our homes and the nearby neighborhoods where we are allowed to take our circumscribed fresh air. But as it turns out, there is much to be learned from focusing the lens on the everyday. You discover beauty and novelty otherwise easily overlooked.

So what follows are the results of my exploration of my home and neighborhood in San Francisco. I am perhaps fortunate to live a short walk from dramatic hills and lush parks, but on my daily walks, I am constantly reminded that beauty, novelty and human interest lie virtually around every corner.
