Wildlife in Golden Gate Park

Golden Gate Park is a short walk from our house. Over sunny two days, I explored the small area around Stow Lake, a charming man-made lake with an island in the middle, featuring a waterfall and Chinese pagoda. In the spring the lake hosts flocks of ducks and geese engaged in their annual mating games. In the middle of the lake, an ancient tree hosts a rookery for great blue herons. I was fortunate to get some shots of the mother herons tending their nests, as well as a brazen raccoon patrolling the shoreline in broad daylight in front of passers-by. Presumably, he was looking for duck eggs, but I think he was a bit early.
